I live in Orkney, a small group of islands off the coast of Scotland where the North Atlantic meets the North Sea. I write and make art that invites a moment of quiet, calm focus.
When you offer the world your clear attention you find a stillness amongst all the distractions. It feels like coming home.
I’ve been an artist for nearly thirty years. Since moving to Orkney in 2016, my work has become increasingly influenced by the constant presence of the dynamic Orcadian weather and sea.
My drawing process is slow and contemplative, a patient accretion that results in intricate forms resembling sea foam, clouds, mists, rock sediments or mollusc shells. I also create large scale commissions, video, photography and I'm a writer too.
